Partners at CrossRoads

I will help you to move beyond the walls that divide you and your spouse/partner. Working together with each other, or seeing me individually, I will help you to forge an effective, practical, and beneficial path forward that best supports your individual needs and, if relevant, the needs of your child(ren), too.

My approach

I am a doctoral level clinical psychologist, teacher, trainer, and author. When you are facing separation or divorce, my extensive background in brain science, relationship therapies, and family systems, can help you and your estranged partner to unblock the path to living fuller lives for each member of your family system.

When a separation or divorce also entangles children in their parents’ struggles, I work with the parents, voluntarily or under court mandate, to develop effective, practical, and beneficial co-parenting strategies and arrangements that assist the child(ren) to thrive, despite the fear, pain, and losses they often experience.

In short, when you can’t get there on your own, I am here to help couples to move past the anger and alienation that blocks building lasting cooperation and collaboration.

Providing direction, structure, and guidance

Pulling against each other achieves little. Pulling in the same direction can achieve much. By putting basic connection and emotional attachment needs first, Partners at CrossRoads helps each member of the family system to function better and have the best chance at longer-term physical, mental, emotional, and relationship health.

In-person and remote options

The Resource Team

“My heels were dug in. I was determined not to ‘give in’ yet again. Dr. Alter helped me - no, helped us - to refocus on what ultimately mattered, and to get to a place where we could cooperate again. The effort to get there was tough, even painful at times, but in the end, we are all, especially the children, better off.”
