Repairing Your Relationship

Guiding You through Your Divorce or Disconnection

Dr. David Alter, PhD

I began my professional journey at the Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Science. From the start, my focus has been on how our minds, brains, bodies, and our timeless need for connection shapes who we are and who we can become.

My many years of psychological practice have drawn upon my background in brain science, relationship therapies, and family system tools, techniques, and strategies supporting difficult but necessary life stage changes to guide COUPLES and INDIVIDUALS to navigate the path to well balanced health.

I work tirelessly to help couples and individuals who are seeking to repair, deepen, and enlarge their relationships. I also recognize that there are times when the best next step for each person in the relation is to move beyond the relationship. So, whether it is guiding you back together or forging a path forward but apart, I look forward to being your partner at this critical time in your lives.

Transforming relationships, one step at a time

The seeds of today’s conflicts were planted long ago. Quite often, the very qualities that attracted you to form this relationship contained an unforeseen face, which is feeding the conflict you are encountering today. Using my background in brain science, relationship therapies, and family systems techniques and strategies, our work together can make the change you seek. Healing can take the form of repairing the relationship or creating a respectful and cooperative transition out of the current relationship. Either way, positive steps are possible.

Cooperation vs. Court

Whether you are seeking to repair and reconcile your relationship, or negotiate a path to a respectful parting, the ability to cooperate and even collaborate is essential to moving forward. That is especially true when children are involved. At Partners at Crossroads, our work will focus on accessing the resources that are key for bringing forward the readiness to cooperate, despite the negative emotions and reactive urges that abound. The more cooperative actions dominate, the more control you retain.

Guided, structured coaching & court-related therapy processes

If you are struggling with the divorce process and can’t get past the bickering, arguing, blame game, and exasperation of attempting to deal with each other, a structured and guided coaching process may be what you need. This structured process provides a path forward, despite the differences, to help you move beyond the past and open the door to successful, post-divorce lives.

Reports/Testimony

Occasionally, I am asked by the court to evaluate parties involved in a high conflict divorce. I may also be asked to generate reports and to function as an expert witness for the court. I may also be asked to provide testimony to the court related to the divorce process.

My time is billed hourly, pro-rated beyond that | $265
